Is Music Good Or Bad For Studying

By Jim Thorpe

Putting things off to the last second is done for a number of reasons, either you just have too much on your plate, you enjoy the thrill of having to rush to get things done, or else you just completely forget about things until the last minute.

First off, take good notes, preferably by hand. Studies have shown you are more likely to remember something if you have written it down-not typed it out. While you are writing your notes, it is a good idea to write any question or personal conclusions you gain in the margins.

Don't be bothered by your different studying habits, if something helps you to be more successful, do that thing, no matter how others feel about it. That is, unless that thing is cheating. Finding your individual best way to study is a great way to ensure your success as you begin college and through your entire college experience. In your college life, you have the opportunity to find yourself, wherever you may be.

Second, take five or ten minutes a day to review the previous day's notes, and any other notes you have taken during the semester. This habitual renewing of material is more effective at retaining information than any midnight cram session.

If you believe that you cannot do well in a particular subject, or class, it may just be that you have not found your own way of learning yet.

Organization Even if being unorganized isn't the main reason that you end up procrastinating, it is your best defense against procrastination. When you are organized, you are able to think much clearer and you can better schedule and prioritize in your mind. Disorganization actually increases stress levels which will make you much less efficient and will further cause procrastination.

Another effective study tip is to create note cards. After each class write a new terms or ideas on a note card and define them. Throughout the course of the semester keep adding to this pile of note cards.

For instance, you could treat yourself to a weekend out in the mountains once you finish that looming project, or take yourself out to eat once you lose that flab. Just make sure it isn't going to put it back on!

As you study for a business degree, a computer science degree, or a degree in business administration, learning your personal best way to study will help you to be even more successful than you would be otherwise. Take time to try many different studying methods, keeping the ones that work for you, and discarding the ones that are ineffective.

Pursuing a college education, whether it is for a property management degree, a chemistry program, or premed, is an important and worthwhile pursuit. Finding your best study methods will help you to do even better than you thought you could. Performing well in school is largely dependent on your ability to study effectively, so find the best way for you today.
