If you are not well familiarized with the new concept stated above then you could easily mistake it for the conventional professional advice that is available from other places. It is meant to be a unique type of personal leadership development and below are some truths about various myths that surround it.

Most people including you take this concept as one that takes up valuable time but this not correct as it depends on how you view it. As an executive you will always value the time you have on your hands and you will only spare it for something that will impact on your personal development or benefit your organization. Another myth states that it is usually impossible for your organization to measure the outcome of this executive coaching. This is a half truth as not all outcomes are measurable and predictable especially if they are based on discovery and exploration. It is therefore not possible to forecast the outcome as it deals with your human nature that is unpredictable.

There is also a common belief that the executives who are considered to be successful at their game do not need to undergo the executive coaching. This is wrong as even though you will be working as an executive in a top ranking company you will need to have an executive coach. These coaches help in adding to your current talent and then help you unlock the talent that is latent in order to improve.

There is also the belief that everyone is coacheable which is not entirely true as there are people who are more coachable than others. It usually works best for you if you are willing to change and have an open mind. It is always important to gauge the coachability of your team before the coach can proceed.

There are some quarters that believe that this concept usually premises on the fact that coaches dictate how you manage your business. This is not correct as the only thing that they offer guidance on is how you can use your ideas in running your business. They will give you insights or perspectives that can be used to solve an existing situation but you will decide to use them or not.

There is a myth that this type of concept is just another management fad that you expect to run out of fashion fast. However, this is not usually the true picture as it has existed for over twenty years albeit in various disguises. Of late it has been exceeding in both demand and popularity as most businesses are trying to find ways on how to survive the hard economic times.

It is possible for you to view the concept as an expensive cost to your business. This is not usually the case as it benefits your organization. It is an investment rather than a cost.
