Write Your Way To Success With Blogging

By Ballarin Roberta

The Internet has created many new opportunities for people to communicate with each other. A blog is a great place for a person to voice his or her opinions and create a large online audience. If that sounds intriguing, then keep reading to see the benefits of blogging.

Make sure the amount of time between each of your blog posts is similar. This helps readers know when you'll be posting your next post. On the other hand, if you post two blog entries two days apart, then don't post another post for a week, people will get out of the habit of reading your blog.

Avoid writing blogs about subjects you have no interest in or know nothing about. It will reflect in your writing and you could possibly come across as uninformed in you are unsure of what you are writing about. This can turn readers off and they will avoid revisiting your site.

It is vital to your blog that you make yourself known and be visible. You can do this by writing guest posts for other people's blogs. It may seem a little scary at first, but you will find that other bloggers are eager to let you post on their blogs. Be sure to get familiar with their blog so you can write good, informative posts.

Make sure your posts don't elicit the "It's too long so I didn't read it" response from your readers. Studies show that people stop paying attention more quickly when reading on the web than they do when reading print. For this reason, try to keep posts under 300 words or so. Some types of posts, such as scholarly articles, don't suffer from this loss of attention of much as others, so know your audience.

Ask readers to subscribe to your blog in an area on your website. Make this area visible but be sure to ask them at some point to sign up. This will add to your list of readers and will make most of them come back and read your blogs later on.

Do not post a blog and move on. You need to interact with people who leave comments on your blog. When your readers know that they can have a conversation with you via your blog, you are more likely to keep them as active readers who follow what you are doing. If you post without commenting, eventually your readers will move on to greener pastures.

Patience is one of the most important parts of growing your list of readers. Blog traffic builds slowly. Not everyone will be aware of your blog immediately. Also, in the early stages of your blog, there just won't be that much content for visitors to read. It is natural for a blog which has been around a long time to attract the most visitors, so hang in there!

Use pictures and other graphics to break up your text and draw in readers. Many people learn best in a graphic format rather than in a written format. By interspersing photographs, diagrams and other graphics into your blog, you are actually perfecting the overall image of the page. The entire page, in effect, becomes an image.

Blogging is a great way to promote a product or web site, if you encourage comments and discussion, that is. Blogs are informal and easy to set up, which means you can add as many posts as you want to describe your product and even ask your readers for valuable feedback. So, if you are selling a product in a brick and mortar store or on a web site, you should set up blog to take advantage of the marketing opportunities that it creates.

A good way to keep readers coming back to your blog is to tell stories. We've all read blogs about the woman who is overweight and is beginning a new weight loss plan. Readers like to follow stories such as this, wanting to know what happens and what the end of the story will be. Keep your readers glued to your blog with a great story!
