Approaches Used In 5 Minute Church

By Della Monroe

There are several instances where history of Christianity has been used to bring people closer to God. Th first incidence was by Jonathan Edward an event that occurred way back in seventeen fifty one on August. This was during the signing of a certain treaty between the Red Indians and Mohawk tribe. 5 minute church has been used to pass the gospel to people on different occasions and platforms.

At this particular occasion, Jonathan was invited to the event and given a chance to address the two tribes as well as the guest who were present to witness the treaty signing. This was signing of treaty that was between the Mohawk tribe which was a Native American tribe and colony of the Massachusetts. The guest there included governors, tribe chiefs, ministers, members of assembly from Massachusetts and a number of other tribes men and also Mohawk chiefs.

The host usually preaches about the past, the way of Christians lives before, the events that took place thousands of years back, the places and locations that largely contributed to shaping the story and lives of Christians.

Christians are easily encouraged by such stories since these are stories which they can easily relate with. There are many stories which people can relate and digest and also apply in their daily lives to help them tackle the problems facing them at a particular time. This is peoples stories and their families history. 5 minutes service is considered an outreach of the Ligonier.

Edward spoke of something that made Englishmen who were present to squirm. This is because he openly stated the reason why they went to colonies. The reason for them to go to colonies was to spread the gospel to them. He also noted that they had failed in their mission to show them the light.

These wonderful experiences explained in the bible are also experiences that people pass through today, so by looking at them and how those people overcome challenges then, Christians today can borrow from them and apply same experiences.

The other occasion was conversion of Robinson Crusoe who in 1651 sailed from Hull and on his way the ship was wrecked and all his crew members perished. Robinson was the only survivor and he was washed to a certain island where he stayed on it for twenty eight years alone.

Robinson came from a Christian family but after he started sailing he no longer followed the Christian way. In the island life was so hard on him and one day Crusoe started seeking refuge from God. And that is how he came to convert back to God and after twenty eight years he was rescued.
