Data On What Makes A Good Supervisor

By Marci Nielsen

Being given with a higher position does not mean that you can already rub this around the faces of other people. So, be more responsible with your actions and treat this as a chance for you to be more of a person. You now have the power to dictate the future of an individual. Try not be so lenient with that.

Be the person that anyone would not be afraid to approach to. What makes a good supervisor is not about defining the line that separates you from your workers. It is about letting them know that you are there whenever they need anything and that you can help if it is not much of an inconvenience for you.

You must be the leading example to all the people who are under you. Observe punctuality for them to have a sense of shame when they burst through the door. Also, do this for yourself. Come home early and find a way how you can remove all the stress in your body. Take care of your health before anything else.

Come up with an incentive system that your company would approve. Little things make workers happy. They can already be motivated with free food. Most importantly, they would do anything for added money. Provide that to the person who did the most in a week and everybody would dive in for that job.

Have proper discipline on those individuals who wish to disrespect the value of time. Lunch breaks must only be in this maximum of one hour. If there is reason for them not to be back in the office on time, you have to be informed in the least. This is one way of showing respect to your level of authority.

You should be patient in being a teacher. Remember that you are dealing with young people who do not have experience in the real world yet. Thus, show them how their tasks should be done and how they can speed up their work with the use of relaxing music or anything that they fancy and that makes them creative.

Put more value to your group members. Let them rest when there is nothing left to do. Also, let them have a vacation once in a while. All of you can even go on a trip together. This will let you bond more and promote unity.

Do not provoke individuals who are not capable of handling their emotional facilities. If one of your employees have anger management issues, direct him to a counselor. Do not judge where this person is coming from since you are a friend before you became their boss. Be considerate in the least.

Communicate everything that is one your mind. If you believe that these people can do better, motivate them by telling them your personal feelings. Let them see you more as a person for them to have no problem opening up with their different concerns as well. Always make this a reciprocal pattern.
